Easy Key Lime Pie


I remember the first time I had a real slice of Key Lime Pie, I was on spring break with my family on Anna Maria Island in Florida. Like most of our family vacations, my mom had researched the “must-go” places before we left so we wouldn’t miss out on any popular food destinations. One of the places that had popped up multiple times was Sign of The Mermaid, and guess what they were known for? Ding ding..Key Lime Pie! And I’m not talking about the key lime pie you get from the freezer section. No, this was real deal little slice of heaven key lime pie.


Now thousands of miles away in Upstate New York, and years later I still think about that pie. Especially when our summer consists of rain, thunder, humidity, and more rain. To transport myself back to white sand beaches, crystal clear water and key lime pie I’ve created my own simple recipe for homemade key lime pie. And let me tell you, when I close my eyes I feel like I’m on Anna Maria Island again. A buttery graham cracker crust holds velvety key lime filling and is topped with lightly sweetened whipped cream.


Prep Time: 15 Minutes

Cook Time: 25-30 minutes

Bake: 350 F




  • 3 cups sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup lime juice
  • 1 tbsp lime zest


  • 1 & ¼ cups graham cracker crumbs (one package of graham crackers)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 5 tbsp melted unsalted butter



Preheat oven to 350 F. In a food processor break apart graham crackers until they resemble a crumb, they do not have to be uniform pieces. Put crumbed graham cracker, sugar and melted butter into bowl and combine until well incorporated (when pressed against the side of the bowl and holds the crust mixture is good). Add the mixture to a pie or tart pan and place into the preheating oven for about 8 minutes, this is so the bottom crust can harden before adding the filling.

While the crust is in the oven combine condensed milk, sour cream, lime juice and zest in a bowl and mix together. Remove crust from oven carefully and add filling. Place in the oven to cook for 25-30 minutes, or until there are sin hole sized bubbles forming on the top of the pie, do not let the pie brown!!! Remove and allow to cool, garnish with fresh whipped cream lime slices, and enjoy! 🙂
