Easy Hoisin Shrimp

I love watching cooking shows. Growing-up I would come home from school, and instead of turning on the television to watch cartoons like a normal child-I would turn on the food network. Shows like Everyday Italian and Barefoot Contessa were my go-to’s, but every once in awhile the show schedules would change and I would get stuck watching (and usually changing) 30-Minute Meals with Rachael Ray. I’ve really got nothing against Rachael Ray, but as a kid I despised this show.

However, now that “adulting” is an everyday occurrence for me I can see how a meal made in 30 minutes is so appealing to people. You work all day just to get home to cook for an hour or more-not that fun. That’s why I love this recipe so much, it takes just 30 minutes to put all together and your result is a fulfilling a delicious meal. Enjoy 🙂

Hoisin Shrimp

  • 1 pound shrimp; thawed and peeled
  • ½ tbsp. Grated or minced ginger
  • 1 tbsp. Hoisin sauce
  • ½  tbsp. Coconut aminos or soy sauce
  • ½ tsp. Red pepper flakes; optional for added heat
  • 2 cloves of garlic; minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Scallion for garnish

Thaw shrimp if frozen by running under cool water, if needed peel and remove the tail. Once the shrimp is thawed and peeled place in a bowl and add grated ginger, Hoisin Sauce, coconut aminos, minced garlic and red pepper flakes if you would like some heat. Mix together.

Place pan over med heat, add a drizzle of olive oil. Once the pan is hot add shrimp and saute for 3-4 minutes, until golden. Serve over jasmine rice, garnish with thinly sliced green scallions and sesame seeds.
